Belonging and Conjuring: The Healing Magic Of Black Cook Pots

In this 60min offering mother and child duo, B. Anderson, Jr. (They/They) and their Mother "Queen Bea" Anderson will share story, practice and tradition to uplift the freedom seeking dishes that crossed the Atlantic, survived through emancipation and with us now acting as the foundation to chart our path towards total liberation.

Through combining the grandmother wit and wisdom of the lived experience of 81 year old Queen Bea and the study and practice of B. Anderson's love of plants and the culinary arts, participants will explore the hidden made visible medicinal and spiritual, and scientific properties of the Black southern dish of collard greens/potlikkur and the Caribbean dish of Callaloo.

We together through our own re-remembering and imagining of the stories of our ancestors' past will divine into the future what dreams we have for the medicine we stir, sift, and steam into the lifetimes of our children to come. *we will be cooking, cackling and telling family stories.
